I’m Katie Rouse (she/her).
I am a freelance marketing manager, copywriter, writer, and author of Psalms of Deconstruction, a poetry collection. I love music that gets me in my feels, practicing yoga, plants my husband takes care of, and finding new gluten free foods.
As a freelancer, I work in the automotive, yoga and wellness, and course development industries. I write copy for emails, blog posts, social media, and anything else you’d like to turn from stoic information to relational connection. I combine my skills as a writer with my aptitude for research and analytics to help small businesses, consultants, and freelancers make the most of what they offer. As a writer, I primarily write poetry and nonfiction. I am currently working on a memoir, about that time when I began deconstructing my faith while working as a missionary in India. You can find me on Instagram @katie.rose.rouse for mini-blogs on faith, deconstruction, doubt, and more. For even more vulnerable content, sign up for my weekly poetry and monthly newsletters here.
As the poetry collection title suggests, I am a deconstructing person of faith. I grew up Southern Baptist, and followed that faith tradition throughout college all the way to the mission field in India, where the realities of organizational miscues and misinterpretations of scripture was the catalyst of deconstruction, though I wouldn’t name it that for several more years. I am now a member of a progressive community of faith and am actively seeking ways to continue to break down anything I’ve built around Jesus, so that I can simply look him in the eye.
I’m married to a man I never expected to meet, Salesforce-extraordinare, Chris Rouse, and we live with our slightly grumpy face kitty in Raleigh, North Carolina.
