Continuing #fromthejournalfridays with my favorite prayer journal from Val Marie Paper with a meditation on wisdom.

Psalm 119.73
“breathe your wisdom over me
so that I may understand you.”
I started out the month wanting to ask for wisdom — and was praying for different, tangible circumstances that I need it in (primarily work). But then in re-reading it this morning, I’ve realized that primarily it is about knowing God. “understanding you,” the psalm says. Or in proverbs, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
So when I’m praying for wisdom, primarily the goal must be to know & understand God. That doesn’t disqualify tangible requests–it enhances them.
I need to know and understand God at work to know how to work. I can’t find the quote but somewhere in the year’s lent study that was covered: when we watch God’s work, we understand how to do our own. That’s the kind of wisdom I need to sustain me on hard days.
